Desktop Resturant: Dev Log #1

I've always adored virtual pet games Neko Astume, Tamagochi even Shimeji Desktop pets we're addicting and fascinating to me and have always wanted to make one of my own. On top of that I've always wanted to make a cooking/food game so I decided to combine my two interests. I also decided to get some help from my partner for programming since I'm not very good at it and we've been wanting to make a game together. The base concept of the game would be a small resturant that would sit in the corner of your screen where you would choose to serve specific foods and wait for customers to come eat. There'll be a bunch of unique customers that will come depending on what kind of food you're serving.

I started concepting some ideas of what kinda of foods I would want and explore the idea of how I want to categorize them. I also explore the idea of characters like specific groups of food rather than specific foods, currently I'm unsure if I like this decision since it might just add unnecessary complexity. I also start thinking about characters and what their food preferences (and maybe restrictions) would be.


Going forward we're looking to do a quick iteration of the game while continuing to see how complex or simple we want the food system. I'll also be making new characters while also inserting some exisiting orginal characters I has.
